Qingshan District in Baotou, Inner Mongolia, has upgraded the lighting on Longjiang Road

The previously intermittently lit and dimly lit streetlights are now stably illuminated, with soft and even light covering the entire street. Visibility is clear and open, making nighttime travel a completely new experience and providing a sense of warmth and security for pedestrians and vehicles. Behind this subtle urban change lies a precise and effective public welfare improvement project. The Qingshan District Housing and Construction Bureau targeted the problem effectively, addressing both the symptoms and root causes, and completely eradicating the persistent problem of malfunctioning streetlights that had plagued residents around Longjiang Road for two years.

Qingshan District in Baotou, Inner Mongolia, has upgraded the lighting on Longjiang Road

Longjiang Road (from Xingfu South Road to Chunguang Lane) is approximately 400 meters long and has 13 streetlights along its route. It is a major thoroughfare for residents in the surrounding area. Previously, the streetlights on this section of road frequently malfunctioned and repeatedly failed to illuminate, resulting in poor visibility at night. This not only caused great inconvenience to residents walking, commuting, and traveling at night, but also posed a significant road safety hazard. The core reason for the persistent recurrence of the malfunctions lies in the fact that the municipal streetlights in this section of the road have exceeded their service life, and the cables are aging and damaged. This, coupled with external disturbances from nearby construction, and the previous rudimentary maintenance model of only temporary repairs and emergency maintenance, fails to fundamentally eliminate deep-seated hidden dangers such as messy wiring, circuit overload, and disordered connections. As a result, the lighting problem has been difficult to resolve and has become a key livelihood issue that the public urgently needs to address.

To effectively respond to the public's demands and thoroughly solve the urban lighting maintenance problem, the Qingshan District Housing and Construction Bureau, based on the requirements of refined urban governance, quickly launched a special rectification campaign for Longjiang streetlights. To accurately identify the problems and prescribe the right solutions, the Qingshan District Housing and Construction Bureau, in conjunction with staff from the Municipal Streetlight Management Office, conducted thorough on-site inspections of the entire road section, checking each streetlight and each section of the wiring, comprehensively identifying and summarizing all kinds of hidden and persistent hidden dangers. Based on the actual road conditions and aging infrastructure, the working group conducted a scientific assessment and implemented precise measures, customizing a professional rectification plan. The plan identified three core tasks: comprehensive cable replacement, line organization and tidying, and circuit load testing. The construction process was refined, and job responsibilities were clearly defined, laying a solid foundation for the efficient, standardized, and orderly progress of the rectification work.

During construction, the Qingshan District Housing and Construction Bureau adhered to civilized construction practices and prioritized public welfare, fully balancing project progress with the convenience of residents. Strictly adhering to environmental protection requirements during the high school entrance examination period, the bureau proactively staggered construction times, optimized work procedures, and scientifically allocated construction resources, efficiently advancing the rectification work while ensuring construction quality. This special rectification project lasted 25 days, with standardized construction and smooth progress throughout, minimizing construction disturbances and achieving a balance between project improvement and public welfare. Simultaneously, the rectification completely abandoned previous superficial repair methods, employing a comprehensive, systematic, and root-cause transformation to eliminate all potential line faults. As of now, the rectification work on the Longjiang Road section has been fully completed, with all 13 streetlights now operating stably and regularly, fundamentally improving the nighttime lighting environment of the section.
