Zhejiang Lishui’s first highway tunnel “lights follow the car” intelligent lighting system

After several months of trial operation and optimization, Lishui’s first highway tunnel “lights follow the car” intelligent lighting system was recently put into use in the Zhangxiling Tunnel of Longpu Expressway. This system not only marks a major breakthrough in Lishui’s intelligent transportation field, but also brings great safety and convenience to the travel of drivers and passengers.

It is understood that the “lights follow the car” intelligent lighting system was independently developed by Zhejiang Transportation Group to solve the problems of high energy consumption and unsatisfactory light environment in highway tunnel lighting. The system integrates advanced equipment and technologies such as the Internet of Things, cloud computing, brightness detectors, and millimeter-wave radar, license plate capture, geomagnetic induction, and event detection “four-in-one” vehicle tracking and identification system, realizing segmented precise control of “lights on when the car comes – lights off when the car leaves – lights follow the car”.

When the vehicle reaches 300 meters before the tunnel entrance, the system automatically captures the vehicle traffic information and immediately adjusts the front lighting brightness in the tunnel; after the vehicle enters the tunnel, the millimeter-wave radar set every 60 meters tracks the vehicle’s driving trajectory in real time and dynamically adjusts the lighting space in front and behind the vehicle until the vehicle safely exits the tunnel; when no vehicle passes, the system automatically adjusts the light brightness to meet the minimum standard requirements for highway tunnel lighting.

According to reports, the “Lights Follow the Vehicle” intelligent lighting system showed extremely high stability and energy-saving effects during the trial operation. Data shows that the system saves about 35% energy per year, effectively reducing the energy consumption cost of tunnel lighting. In addition, the system also has a self-checking function. Once there is a problem with the lighting equipment and facilities in the tunnel, the system will remind the staff to conduct rapid maintenance in real time, ensuring the continuous and stable operation of the lighting system.

The official launch of the “Lights Follow the Vehicle” intelligent lighting system not only provides a safer and more comfortable driving environment for drivers and passengers, but also injects new vitality into the construction of intelligent transportation in Lishui area.
