Technical layout analysis

After the 2008 financial crisis, the total number of related patent applications worldwide has also stabilized due to the sharp decline in Chinese applications and their relative stability. It is the geographical layout of the LED general lighting application patents. It can be seen from the figure that China (including Taiwan) has a total number of 271,218 applications, ranking first in the world, accounting for 47% of the total global LED general lighting application related patents. 52%, the number of applications is significantly higher than other countries.

It can be seen that the key applicants are mainly concentrated in Japan, China, Germany, and the United States. This aggregation trend is consistent with the global layout of patent applications.

Among the top 10 main applicants in the world, several companies of Panasonic Group, Toshiba and Mitsubishi are Japanese companies, and the three Chinese companies, Ocean King Lighting, Hon Hai Group and Op Lighting, have also entered the top ten global applicant rankings. Japanese and Chinese companies account for 60%. Among them, Japan's Matsushita Group ranks first in the world with 9,567 patent applications. Its subsidiaries, such as Matsushita Electric Works and Matsushita Electric, have in-depth research and patent layout in this field, occupying an advantageous position.

Ocean King Lighting of China ranks second in the world with 5,526 patent applications. It is a leading research and production company in Shenzhen.

In third place is Japan's Toshiba Lighting, which is one of the leading Japanese lighting brands. Subsequent Mitsubishi, Philips, Osram, Optronics and other companies, the number of patent applications has been significantly lower than the top three countries. From the perspective of the types of major applicants in the world, the top 20 applicants are all enterprises and there are no universities or scientific research institutions. This is because in the field of lighting applications, the technical difficulty is lower than that of the upstream chip end. Play a role in improving product quality.
