Classroom lighting testing in Jiading District, Shanghai

In order to further strengthen the prevention and control of adolescent myopia in the new era and promote the improvement of sanitary conditions, since 2021, the Shanghai Jiading District Health and Health Commission Supervision Institute has combined the work of "double random selection and one disclosure" of school health to continuously promote the supervision of classroom lighting and hygiene in primary and secondary schools , the current supervision completion rate has reached 100%.

This year is the final year for the special supervision of daylighting and lighting in myopia prevention and control classrooms in primary and secondary schools. The Jiading District Health and Health Commission Supervision Institute attaches great importance to this work. Based on the actual situation of the jurisdiction, the corresponding work plan is formulated in advance, and the tasks and requirements of the work are clarified. In the early stage of this year's special action, 20 schools that have not carried out special supervision on lighting and lighting have been trained on laws, regulations and standards related to lighting and lighting in classrooms and lighting self-inspection requirements for interpretation and guidance.

During the supervision process, the sanitation supervisor conducted a comprehensive inspection of the lighting and lighting work of each school in accordance with the "School Health Work Regulations" and "Sanitary Standards for Daylighting and Lighting of Classrooms in Primary and Secondary Schools", and entrusted the Shanghai Center for Disease Control and Prevention to conduct a comprehensive inspection of the school's different schools. The structure, level, orientation, and lighting direction of classrooms were inspected on-site. At the same time, combined with the school's self-inspection situation and daily hygiene management, the laws and regulations related to school hygiene were publicized and educated. Judging from the inspection situation, some schools have transformed the lighting of the classrooms, installed eye-protection lighting with product certification and partial lighting on the blackboard, which improved the eye environment for students; however, some schools still have classroom lighting installations. There are few problems, old lamp tubes, and unreasonable blackboard lamp settings. In response to the above problems, the sanitation supervisor explained the relevant requirements to the school in detail to ensure that the school can be targeted, fast and efficient in the follow-up renovation process.

Caring for students' eyesight and reducing the incidence of myopia has always been the direction of efforts of health supervisors. In the next step, the Jiading District Health Commission Supervision Institute will sort out and summarize the problems existing in each school one by one, communicate and coordinate with the education administrative department in a timely manner, and jointly urge the schools to make corresponding rectifications in accordance with national health standards. In the later stage, we will also "review" the rectification of unqualified schools to ensure the effectiveness of rectification. Through the effective linkage of health education, long-term success has formed a long-term mechanism to further improve the lighting and hygiene management level of classrooms in primary and secondary schools in our district, provide students with a learning environment that meets the requirements for eye hygiene, and help young people prevent and control myopia.
