Domestic street lights have changed dramatically in ten years

In the past, high-pressure sodium lamps have been used as the main light source of street lamps due to their high power and high brightness. However, due to shortcomings such as high energy consumption and short life of high-pressure sodium lamps, municipalities have brought a lot of burden on management funds. In addition, problems such as poor light energy utilization and low light efficiency have become increasingly prominent, which directly affects visual experience of traffic participants on the road.

Domestic street lights have changed dramatically in ten years

From the end of the 2000s to the beginning of the 2010s, driven by national policies such as “energy saving and emission reduction”, “thousands of thousands of miles” and “trillions of lamps”, the tide of LED light source replacement has also come. High-power street lamps in the lighting industry have naturally become an important member of this trend.

Relevant statistics show that compared with street lights with the same power source of high-pressure sodium lamps, LED street lights can save 40% -80% of energy consumption; in terms of light color and road lighting effect, the color rendering index of LED street lights with cold color temperature is better than that of warm color temperature. The traditional light source sodium lamp street light should be 45 ~ 55 tall. In addition, the LED light source is easier to form effective light, allowing traffic participants to see the road condition more clearly. In terms of the service life of the light source, compared with the high pressure sodium lamp 1 ~ 2 years, the LED light source can be used for more than 10 years, making it a perfect substitute for high-pressure sodium lamps in road lighting.

However, the LED street lamp seemed perfect and infinite, but when it was first promoted, many municipal engineering contractors were discouraged for no reason. Based on the price at that time, a set of high-pressure sodium lamp street lamp heads. It is about 1200 to 1500 RMB, and the price of a set of LED street lamp heads is about 2,000 to 5,000 RMB.

Under this application bottleneck, a cooperation model called Energy Management Contracting (EMC) has become popular in the procurement of LED street lights. Following the principle that the longer the LED lighting time, the more energy-saving benefits, and the more obvious the investment recovery rate, the government provides guarantees. LED street lamp manufacturers benefit from energy-saving benefits. Energy-consuming units and energy-saving service companies also follow the agreed ratio. Share energy-saving benefits together, and municipal engineering contractors can achieve zero or less investment in this model, thereby reducing the direct economic burden of purchasing LED street lights.

In addition, LED street lamp manufacturers represented by QinShang Optoelectronics also flexibly combine the EMC model with other business models. Manufacturers not only act as product and service providers, but also take into account the bridge between financial institutions and customers. Users and financial institutions have realized the maximization of benefits and minimized risks in the new installation and replacement of LED street lights, forming a win-win situation for the three parties.

After a series of application bottlenecks such as price and energy efficiency were resolved, in the first half of the 2010s, the new installation of LED street lamps progressed in full swing throughout the country. The high-pressure sodium lamp light sources that have been installed in China have also been replaced.

Entering the second half of the 2010s, with the advent of the "smart city" construction boom, each city's infrastructure has also ushered in a smart upgrade. As an important part of the city's infrastructure, street lights naturally merge into the wave of intelligence, and have a new name-smart street lights.

In terms of lighting functions, smart street lights use city sensors, power line carrier / ZIGBEE communication technology, and wireless GPRS / CDMA communication technology to connect street lights in cities in series to form the Internet of Things to achieve remote centralized control and management of street lights. Automatically adjust the brightness according to the conditions such as traffic volume, time, and weather conditions to achieve remote lighting control, allowing urban road lighting to reach a "smart" state. Compared with the conventional ordinary LED street light, which achieves fixed energy-saving benefits only through the light source in the lamp holder, the smart street light uses the LED light source to save energy and intelligently control the lighting, so that the energy consumption control can be changed as desired.

From the perspective of light pole functions, conventional street light poles only used ordinary functions such as lamp body support and hidden lines. In addition to common functions on smart street light poles, communication base stations, information displays, car charging piles, and video monitoring can be installed. Waiting for the convenience of the people can make intelligent responses and intelligent decision support to people's livelihood, the environment, and public safety.

From “multi-pole” to “multi-pole in one”, street lights continue to transform and upgrade in the 5G era

For a long time, different poles occupy the land resources of urban roads in and around the country, which not only affects the image of the city, but also increases the difficulty of maintenance and management of the urban management department, which adversely affects vehicle traffic and public travel. In recent years, with the large-scale promotion of 5G technology in the construction of the domestic smart city communication field, as a smart street light with two main functions of lighting and communication, and a smart light pole with "one multi-purpose", it has naturally become the main body of the redundant integration of urban roads.

In response to this trend, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology and the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council jointly issued the "Implementation Opinions on Promoting the Co-construction and Sharing of Telecommunications Infrastructure in 2018" (Ministry of Information and Communications [2018] No. 82) last year, and actively promoted communication towers and street lights, monitoring, traffic poles and other tower resources are shared in both directions, promoting "multi-tower integration" and "multi-pole integration". Driven by this implementation opinion, multiple roads in many domestic cities, such as Fuzhou, Shenyang, Zhuhai, Changsha, and Chongqing, have implemented the "multiple-in-one" transformation to optimize urban road resources.
