EBRD supports Yerevan LED road lighting retrofits

May 11, European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, EBRD president Khachatryan Armenian Minister of Finance signed an agreement with EBRD Yerevan will provide $ 4 million funding for the introduction of energy-saving technologies reconstruction Yerevan city road lighting system.

Yerevan city has a population of 1.1 million, about one third of the population, but the road lighting network still old, inefficient and polluting the environment mercury components. The project will be through the introduction of LED energy saving lamps, establish monitoring systems and the replacement of poles and power cables in order to achieve lower energy consumption and minimize operation and maintenance costs, improve service quality, environmental standards and vehicle and pedestrian safety. Since 1992, the EBRD has worked in Armenia, finance, infrastructure, energy and other areas of the implementation of 135 projects with a total investment of over 900 million euros.
