The lighting of the archway in the famous Sanxia Old Street in New Taipei City has been aging and damaged in recent years, and the benefits of repairs have declined year after year. Last year, the Three Gorges District Office discussed the cure method. After the Three Gorges District Chief Huang Zongxiang proposed, it cost 3.01 million in March this year and will be 375 meters long. The old street lamps and lanterns in the old street are fully replaced with LEDs and the power circuit is improved. The work will be completed in June and we hope to rebuild the night atmosphere of the old street.

Full replacement of LED lights in Sanxia Old Street

The Urban and Rural Bureau completed the restoration of the Sanxia Old Street in 2007. The district office pointed out that at that time, most of the lamps were traditional bulbs. Some of the lamps outside were brittle due to the sun and rain. In addition, some of the lines were hidden in the brick walls. The frequency of repairs is 1 to 2 times a year, but after the line buried in the brick wall is damaged, the bulb will often trip or even not light up after it is repaired.

In order to improve the old street lighting system, starting from the middle of last year, the district office invited various units to discuss solutions, and finally adopted the proposal of Huang Zongxiang, the chief of the Three Gorges, to retain the original historical lighting, but the bulbs were fully replaced with LEDs.

The entire improvement project cost about 3.01 million. The district office raised 1.43 million. The other 1.58 million was funded by the councillor Jiang Yizhen. The project was completed in June. The total length of the restoration is 375 meters.

The district office stated that a total of 936 lamps were replaced in the three-month project, including the old street archway lights, sign lights, wall lights, arched small cup lights, ceiling lights, power circuits and switch box finishing, etc., and the lines were all exposed. , To facilitate future maintenance. The district office estimates that the lighting system after completion can improve the nighttime lighting, loops and line obstacles of the old street. In addition to easier maintenance, it can also ensure the safety of people and vehicles.

Zhou Jinping, the head of the Three Gorges District, said that the improvement project can reproduce the night scene of the Three Gorges Old Street, promote the development of local tourism, and increase the satisfaction of the people.
