Intelligent Rural Streetlights Illuminate Chenghai District, Shantou, Guangdong

In recent years, numerous public welfare organizations have actively participated in the "Hundreds of Thousands of Projects," injecting warm energy into improving rural living environments. Recently, the Chuxin Service Team of the Guangdong Lions Club donated over 50,000 yuan to construct an intelligent street lighting system along the Hanjiang Nanxi Embankment in Meipu Village, Xinan Town, Chenghai District, Shantou City, Guangdong Province. The project has now passed inspection and been put into use.

Located by the Han River, Meipu Village, though remote, boasts beautiful scenery, clear water, and lush banks, making it an increasingly popular spot for nearby residents to stroll, exercise, and jog. However, the Nanxi Embankment, a main thoroughfare in and out of the village, has long lacked lighting facilities, causing significant inconvenience for locals, especially individuals with disabilities, when traveling at night.

Local villagers noted that the road was pitch-dark at night previously, requiring even small electric vehicles or cars to use high beams to see if anyone was ahead. Moreover, many people walk or jog along this road in the evenings.

To address this issue, the Chuxin Service Team of the Guangdong Lions Club conducted a field survey in Meipu Village and decided to fund the construction of an intelligent street lighting system. After several months of construction, the project was recently completed and passed inspection.

Zou Tianqing, the activity project lead of the Chuxin Service Team, stated, "Our service team donated 64 streetlights at a total cost of over 50,000 yuan. Our goals in donating these lights are: first, to create a better living environment and make nighttime travel more convenient for nearby residents and friends with disabilities; second, to support the 'Hundreds of Thousands of Projects' and enhance the sense of safety and happiness among rural communities; and third, to demonstrate compassion and shoulder social responsibilities."

At the lighting ceremony, the head of Meipu Village presented a plaque to the Chuxin Service Team of the Guangdong Lions Club in recognition of their charitable efforts.

Zou Muhan, Secretary of the Meipu Village Party Branch, said, "The donation of the street lighting system by the Chuxin Service Team of the Guangdong Lions Club has facilitated nighttime travel and transportation for our villagers while also advancing the progress of the 'Hundreds of Thousands of Projects' in our village. Here, we extend our gratitude to the Chuxin Service Team for their assistance."

With the intelligent streetlights now illuminating the embankment, the joy of the villagers is evident.

Local villagers expressed that the installation of the lighting system has brought significant changes, allowing them to clearly see whether anyone is ahead and making leisure activities, strolls, and jogs much smoother for everyone.
