Kent, UK will invest 384 million for LED street lighting renovation

According to the report, the renovation project of the LED lighting system will allow KCC to reduce the electricity cost generated by street lighting by 60%, and this renovation project also means that KCC will allow KCC to make the roads in each residential area within its jurisdiction. When there is light. The LED lighting system also automatically adjusts the light level according to natural lighting conditions to achieve the best power saving effect.

The LED lighting system under the control of CMS technology will cost KCC 40 million pounds (equivalent to about 384 million yuan), which is undoubtedly a huge financial expenditure for KCC, but through government procurement, KCC can make the money spent produces greater social and economic benefits. The person in charge of the LED lamp procurement project at KCC said that the social benefits need not be said much. In terms of economic benefits, energy-saving lamps can save the government's energy expenditure to the greatest extent and save a considerable amount of maintenance costs. Therefore, even with limited financial resources, KCC must ensure the successful completion of the procurement of the LED lighting system renovation project.

According to the report, considering factors such as KCC's budget allocation progress and financial payment ability, the procurement of LED lighting systems may not start until the end of this year or early next year, and it will take about 3 years to complete. According to KCC's plan, the project will be advanced in two phases. First of all, all residents in the jurisdiction must first replace the street lights in front of their houses with LED lights, and then replace all the lighting systems on both sides of the main roads and the central city with LED lights. The tasks of these two phases will take more than 3 years to be completed successively.

David Breger, KCC's Cabinet Member for Environment and Transport, said: "We have been following up with Kent Police on a regular basis to learn that since the introduction of part of the road lighting system at night in Kent, there has been a significant increase in crime in Kent. At the same time, polls also show that the vast majority of residents in Kent hope that the government can introduce a night lighting system for all roads and public places, which can greatly reduce the crime rate and provide convenience for people to travel. Considering factors such as low carbon, environmental protection and energy saving, Kent County decided to introduce LED lighting system. Compared with traditional LED lighting system, the newly introduced system works under the control of CMS, which can effectively control energy consumption and provide better humanized light source for the public."
