LED driver solution

For applications that are more suitable for CCR control strategies, Infineon Technologies' LITIX Basic supports automotive applications with diagnostic and protection features. For example, with N-1 fault detection, the device can report to the primary microcontroller a fault that the LED string can compromise system integrity. In automotive taillights, if a string failure is sufficient to reduce the brightness to an unacceptable level, the lamp needs to be disabled and an error condition reported to the driver, which can be performed by the microcontroller sending a message to the dashboard electronics.

The LYTSwitch-6 LED integrates the DC/DC converter and LED drive functions in a single package. The main power controller is based on a quasi-resonant flyback converter architecture with a built-in 650V power FET (MOSFET). A secondary controller that supplies current to the LED string includes a transmitter circuit magnetically coupled to the main converter, a constant voltage and a constant current control circuit. It supports constant voltage and constant current output and offers the flexibility to support multiple LED configurations. Under constant current control, LYTswitch-6 is suitable for driving LED strings of different lengths, and the devices in the string produce different voltages from a single power supply. In constant voltage mode, the device is suitable for PWM mode and supports dimming to zero output and RGB array color control.

XP's DLG series of power components provide a complete solution for LEDs with constant voltage or constant current technology for systems in harsh environments. DLG components are waterproof and dustproof, IP67 compliant, and can be immersed 1 meter underwater. Powered directly from the AC mains supply, no other front-end power converters are required. DLG components are used with external LED strings to support applications such as outdoor billboards and information boards.

For applications where LEDs need to be incorporated into fixtures, the Lumawise Z50 from TE Connectivity offers a fast time-to-market solution. The Z50 incorporates a DC/DC converter and LED driver circuitry into the fixture, powered by a 48V DC power supply, suitable for integration into lighting and tracking lighting systems, such as those typically used in retail display applications.

The flexibility of LEDs means that designers have many circuit designs and topologies to choose from. However, there are many other solutions on the market that match the performance of selected devices for the target application, and can be customized and quickly launched. The goal. As a distributor of electronic components and development services, Element14 is committed to providing the latest technology to electronic design engineers and providing seamless support for their entire process from early design and low volume manufacturing to high volume production to meet their evolving needs.
