In recent years, Shenzhen Airport has joined hands with airlines and resident units to integrate green concepts into airport planning, construction and operation, and fully promote the construction of national-level ecological civilization demonstration airports. In 2018, Shenzhen Airport Group formulated the "Shenzhen Airport 2018 Annual Ecological Civilization Construction Work Plan" for water, atmospheric and solid waste pollution control, environmental landscape construction and management, water consumption energy consumption measurement installation, new energy vehicle promotion, carbon Work objectives such as management and system construction have deployed 124 key tasks in ecological civilization construction. In the whole year of 2018, Shenzhen Airport's ecological civilization construction funds reached 190 million yuan, an increase of 18% over the previous year.

In view of the increase in carbon emissions caused by the continuous increase in passenger flow and cargo throughput, Shenzhen Airport has optimized the aircraft fuel consumption through the dual-runway operation mode, built the photovoltaic power station with the largest installed capacity in the domestic civil aviation industry, and increased the use of new energy vehicles. Measures such as the construction of charging piles in the airport area will continuously improve the energy saving and emission reduction effects.

In addition, Shenzhen Airport has also promoted energy-saving renovation of central air-conditioning and lighting systems, and implemented more than 30 energy-saving and emission-reduction projects such as central air-conditioning self-control upgrade of T3 terminal building and LED lighting renovation of public lighting. The annual utilization of clean energy is 14 million kWh. The total consumption decreased by 1272.67 tons of standard coal, a year-on-year decrease of 5.74%.
