LED lighting saves Canadian marijuana's huge power consumption

Since Canada is about to legalize marijuana in July 2018, Canadian marijuana growers have begun large-scale production, but marijuana cultivation requires a huge amount of electricity. In order to reduce the cost of marijuana production, technology companies have begun to study LED lighting technology, hoping to reduce the energy required to grow marijuana, it is estimated that the use of LED lighting will reduce lighting electricity costs by 50%.

According to research, it takes 2,000 kilowatt-hours of electricity to produce a pound of marijuana on average, and 2,000 kilowatt-hours of electricity is equivalent to two months of electricity for an average Canadian family. There are 47 licensed cannabis producers in Ontario, Canada. It is estimated that these marijuana producers will consume 1% of the electricity consumed in Ontario each year.

The matching ratio of different types and colors of LED lights can change the growth mode of plants and achieve the goal of controlling the output and quality of plant growth. Taking marijuana as an example, if you increase the red light and reduce the blue light, you can reduce the THC content in marijuana, and vice versa.
