LED Street Lights Illuminate Wugu Village, Nanping Township, Lichuan City, Enshi Prefecture, Hubei Province
On the evening of March 26, the street lights outside lit up, making it much more convenient for Li Depei, an elderly welfare recipient from Group 5 of Wugu Village, to come and go at night.

Recently, Huang Guilin, a resident of Group 5 in Wugu Village, Nanping Township, Lichuan City, Enshi Tujia and Miao Autonomous Prefecture, Hubei Province, spent 50,000 yuan of his own money to purchase 30 solar street lights to solve the problem of nighttime travel for the group. Huang Guilin has long been engaged in the construction industry in Shanghai. Previously, after seeing news reports about villagers in Wugu Village actively participating in the construction of a beautiful and harmonious countryside, raising funds and contributing efforts to upgrade the public environment in their hometown, and spontaneously repairing roads, Huang Guilin was deeply inspired and also wanted to contribute to the development of his hometown.
During this return to his hometown, Huang Guilin noticed that the lack of street lights made it particularly inconvenient for villagers to go out at night, so he proactively proposed donating funds to purchase street lights. After the lights were delivered, the villagers of Wugu Village worked together, installing them quickly by themselves. Thanks to the villagers' swift actions, all the street lights were installed in just one day. During the installation process, everyone not only fully considered factors such as lighting distance, courtyard distribution, and route aesthetics but also paid special attention to the convenience of disadvantaged villagers, prioritizing the needs of the elderly living alone and those with limited mobility. This ensured that each street light not only illuminates the paths for travel but also brings warmth to individual households.
The street lights donated by Huang Guilin now illuminate two kilometers of roads in the group, benefiting over 200 villagers. Wugu Village has consistently encouraged and guided villagers to actively participate in hometown construction, continuously stimulating their intrinsic motivation for grassroots governance in the pursuit of a beautiful and harmonious countryside. Earlier, Wugu Village's experience of using the "small focus" of improving the living environment to leverage a "significant upgrade" in village conditions was successfully selected as a typical case for rural construction in 2024 by the Hubei Provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Affairs, making it the only case from the entire prefecture.
