Lighting Upgrade Project of Inventor Square Completed in Leiyang City, Hengyang, Hunan

On the evening of May 17, the newly installed lighting facilities at Inventor Square in Leiyang, Hengyang City, Hunan Province were successfully lit up.

It was reported that many citizens previously complained about dim lighting in some areas of the square. Poor visibility for evening walking and fitness activities not only ruined leisure experience but also brought potential safety hazards. After receiving public feedback, the Municipal Public Utilities Service Center attached great importance to the issue. Staff were dispatched for on-site surveys immediately to fully identify lighting blind zones. A scientific and practical renovation plan was quickly formulated based on the square’s layout and residents’ demands.

During construction, the team overcame challenges including tight schedules and limited working conditions by optimizing construction procedures and accelerating progress. The lighting upgrade officially kicked off on May 15. After two consecutive days of intensive work, eight 9-meter-high street lamps in the west square and twelve spotlights in the east square were fully installed and illuminated on the night of May 17. The new lights deliver soft yet sufficient brightness, greatly raising the overall illuminance of the square at night. Formerly dim zones are now bright and clear, vastly improving lighting conditions for citizens’ evening walks, workouts and other outdoor activities.

To further eliminate lighting blind spots and continuously upgrade lighting quality, the Municipal Public Utilities Service Center has launched follow-up optimization work. In the near future, 50 solar garden lights will be added to poorly lit areas to achieve full, gap-free night illumination across the square, making residents’ nighttime activities safer and more comfortable.
