Major Upgrade of 666 Lighting Fixtures on Tongji Road in Xiamen

Recently, the replacement of LED lighting fixtures on sections such as Tongji Road (Yindou Road to Tianma Road) in Xiamen has been fully completed, with 666 new energy-efficient and environmentally friendly fixtures put into operation. This upgrade has infused safety and green energy into the nighttime traffic flow of this crucial transportation artery.

As a key traffic artery connecting Tong'an and Jimei, Tongji Road experiences heavy vehicle traffic and high demand for passage. Some of the original lighting fixtures on the auxiliary roads and non-motorized lanes had been in use for an extended period, leading to issues such as severe light degradation, high energy consumption, and elevated failure rates. These problems not only affected nighttime driving visibility but also fell short of green and low-carbon development requirements.

To effectively improve road lighting quality, ensure the safety of residents' travel, and respond to the call for energy conservation and environmental protection, the Bridge and Tunnel Center launched this lighting fixture replacement project.

This maintenance and replacement effort focused on the auxiliary roads and motor vehicle lanes on sections such as Tongji Road from Yindou Road to Tianma Road and Huancheng South Road to Second Ring South Road. All outdated high-pressure sodium lamps were replaced with efficient and energy-saving LED fixtures. The newly selected fixtures offer advantages such as high luminous efficacy, long lifespan, and low energy consumption. With light source efficiency far surpassing that of traditional fixtures, they significantly improve nighttime lighting coverage and brightness while effectively reducing energy consumption and long-term maintenance costs.

The full deployment of 666 new lighting fixtures has greatly enhanced the nighttime lighting environment on Tongji Road, markedly improving road surface clarity. This upgrade has created a safer and more comfortable travel environment for passing vehicles and pedestrians.
