Nightscape Lighting Project in Yong’an City, Sanming, Fujian

As night fell and lights came on on June 21, the Leisure Square at the Red Army Ferry in Ansha Town, Yong’an City, Sanming, Fujian Province shed its daytime tranquility and brimmed with vibrant nightlife. Warm light strips wind along the riverbank, and dynamic colorful spotlights illuminate rural footpaths. Amid the interplay of light and shadow, scenic landmarks including the Red Army Pavilion, century-old ancient trees and red-themed sculptures shine brightly. The exquisite natural landscape is deeply integrated with profound red cultural heritage, painting a captivating waterside night scene and injecting brand-new vitality into this historic red village.

“The village nightscape has taken on a completely new look. It is bright and beautiful after dark, and the Red Army Ferry has become the top spot for residents to relax!” Villagers spoke with delight when talking about the new changes. The stunning nightscape stems from the solid delivery of livelihood projects. The infrastructure upgrading project at the Red Army Ferry in Ansha Town is among the first batch of key livelihood projects supported by the post-resettlement fund for large and medium-sized reservoir migrants in Yong’an City for 2026, with a total investment of over 750,000 yuan. Launched in mid-April and completed and put into operation at the end of May, the lighting project added and renovated a total of 368 sets of characteristic landscape lights such as wall washers and tile lights. Zones for functional lighting and landscape lighting were scientifically divided to achieve mutual benefits for public convenience and cultural tourism development. Meanwhile, fully integrating the ecological scenery of the Jiulong Stream and local red history, the project has created an exclusive nighttime cultural tourism landmark at the Red Army Ferry, reviving the dormant red cultural resources under the night sky.

Upon completion of the lighting project, the living environment of Ansha Village has achieved remarkable improvement, continuously boosting residents’ sense of gain, happiness and security. Every evening, crowds gather around the Red Army Ferry in a lively and peaceful atmosphere. Villagers stroll along the riverside and chat, while children chase and play amid cheerful laughter. Rich earthly vitality permeates the waterside lanes. This initiative not only enriches residents’ cultural life, but also brings neighbors closer and fosters rural warmth. This ancient red village now boasts attractive scenery as well as heartwarming benefits for local residents.
