The company is working with local municipalities to participate in the conversion of traditional lighting to LED systems.

"This is a great opportunity for us, and we are leading the way," said Sumit Joshi, vice president of Philips Lighting India.

The Government of India encourages local organizations to use LEDs to conserve energy through Energy Efficiency Services Limited (EESL).

"The number of street lights is different," he added, "and there are about 30 million streetlights, but it seems to me that this number will be larger because there are no street lights in India and there is still more Street light. "

In addition, Philips Lighting is also focused on India's power supply program (Pradhan Mantri Sahaj Bijli Har Ghar Yojana, also known as Saubhagya), which aims to provide electricity connections to more than 40 million homes in rural and urban areas by 2018.

However, Josh did not say how much of this government would contribute to the bid.

"At EESL, we are leading in the tender, but there is a lot of business outside of EESL," said Joshi, "and EESL is one of our biggest customers."

According to him, with the rise of consumer homes, connected lighting, B2B business and new offices, there are many activities in these areas.

Philips Lighting also expanded its connected lighting portfolio through the "Hue Intelligent Lighting System" and recently opened a global remote operation center in Banakar.

"In India, the journey has just begun, and because the technology companies want to bring value to their employees, and because of the need for energy savings, the adoption rate of LEDs is increasing in the enterprise."
