Signify becomes the number one lighting company in Europe for patent applications in 2020

Signify’s ranking rose from 26th a year ago to 21st among all companies that applied for patents at the European Patent Office.

Signify has applied for a total of 691 patents, ranking second among all Dutch companies in the number of applications.

Signify ranked second among many Dutch companies that applied for patents to the European Patent Office. In 2020, Signify focuses on areas such as wireless optical communications (LiFi), 3D printing lamps, UV-C ultraviolet disinfection and plant lighting, and Signify has applied for patents in these areas gradually. Signify now has more than 19,500 patents, mainly focusing on LED-based lighting products and control systems. These patents cover LED light sources, modules, lamps and intelligent interconnected lighting control systems, providing services for the interconnectivity, digitalization and sustainable development of lighting.
