"Special" rose spectrum + LED module to increase rose production

Porta Nova, a rose grower located in Eindhoven, the fifth largest city in the Netherlands, decided to increase investment and expand the use of Philips GreenPower LED toplight modules to expand the lighting coverage area to 5,000 square meters.

"Special" rose spectrum + LED module to increase rose production

It is reported that Porta Nova is a leading rose nursery company in the Netherlands, and its scale has steadily expanded from 4.3 hectares in 2002 to 20 hectares now. Porta Nova has been using Philips lighting products since 2015. The new GreenPower LED toplight module is equipped with a special spectrum for roses, which can increase the light level all year round without increasing the heat.

The latest generation of Philips GreenPower LED toplight modules is equipped with a unique rose spectrum. Each characteristic module has a light output of 500 or 600 mol/s, and a luminous efficiency as high as 3.0 mol/J. Because the long lighting hours create a stable environment, growers can improve rose yields and quality by increasing the lighting hours with the new LED-specific rose spectrum.

Over the past year, Signify's plant experts have been working with a research team comprising experts from the plantation industry, academia and the public sector. They aim to develop a unique LED spectral light formula for cut roses (Cut Roses, Chinese roses). Under the climatic conditions of Western Europe, full LED lighting with a specially developed spectrum is used to grow high-yield high-quality cut roses.

According to Udo van Slooten, Manager of Agriculture at Signify, the final results of the rose spectrum study are also being applied to Porta Nova's rose nursery, which clearly demonstrates that Philips' new toplight module with proprietary Rose Spectrum meets expectations and meets requirements , can be used on a larger scale.
