Streetlight Renewal in Yongji City, Yuncheng, Shanxi
To further improve urban lighting quality and optimize the tourism and traffic environment, the Municipal Public Service Center of Yongji City, Yuncheng, Shanxi Province, has recently made overall arrangements and organized a special campaign for the centralized maintenance and replacement of streetlights. The renovation covers the tourist corridor connecting multiple scenic spots in Yongji - the section from West Expressway Exit to Huanghetan Embankment. The project aims to ensure residents’ safe travel at night and enhance the city’s tourism image.

At the construction site, reporters saw workers on aerial work vehicles dismantling old street lamp heads in an orderly manner and installing new ones simultaneously. Ground staff worked in well-coordinated teams to complete power cut inspection, removal and disposal of waste batteries and other procedures. The entire construction site was busy yet well-organized.
Sun Huan, a staff member of the General Business Department at Yongji Municipal Public Service Center, stated:“Right after the Spring Festival, our center responded closely to people’s livelihood needs and promptly launched the replacement project for more than 260 streetlights along the tourist road. At present, the overall project is progressing as planned, with 50% of the total works completed. The whole project is expected to be fully finished in mid-to-late March.”
The road section from West Expressway Exit to Huanghetan Embankment serves as a vital tourist corridor linking the urban area with scenic spots, as well as a key thoroughfare for residents’ daily travel. This streetlight replacement project completely eliminates outdated lead-acid batteries and uniformly replaces them with high-performance lithium batteries. Outdated lamps are also renewed with high-brightness and energy-saving light sources, comprehensively improving road surface lighting conditions.
The newly installed streetlights will not only light up people’s travel routes, but also effectively upgrade Yongji’s tourism service capacity and overall urban image.
Sun Huan added:“We will strictly follow the construction schedule, fully control project quality, and accelerate the progress of remaining construction tasks. Meanwhile, we will continue to implement regular daily maintenance and management of municipal lighting facilities, ensuring safe and comfortable nighttime travel for both citizens and tourists. We will further upgrade the lighting quality along tourist roads and contribute to building Yongji into an emerging strong tourism city.”
