Tainan Benyuan Bridge changed to LED lights

The 230,000 street lights in Tainan are being replaced with LED lights one after another in order to save energy and reduce carbon emissions. However, the renovation project of Benyuan Bridge in Annan District on Line 17, which will be completed in May this year, is still designed to use traditional sodium lamps. Speaker Guo Xinliang led a committee to investigate on the 13th, and criticized the inconsistency with the current policy, requiring the General Administration of Highways and the Municipal Public Works Bureau to replace the LED lights before opening to traffic, so as to avoid wasting public funds by the second replacement. The General Administration of Highways promised to invite manufacturers to find suitable replacement lamps as soon as possible.

Guo Xinliang pointed out that in order to take into account energy saving and lighting, the city government is gradually replacing 230,000 street lamps in the city with LED lights; the Haiweiliao Bridge, which was previously completed and used, also used sodium lamps for some street lights, which were taken over by the city government. , the city government also spent money to replace LED lights, which not only wastes public money, but also wastes resources. Therefore, when he found that the street lights of Benyuan Bridge had the same problem, he asked the General Administration of Highways to replace them before the implementation was completed.

Guo Xinliang also said that the matter was coordinated by the legislator Chen Tingfei, and the General Administration of Highways was willing to change the original design and use all LED street lights on the Benyuan Bridge, for which he expressed his gratitude. He also asked the Municipal Public Works Bureau and the General Highway Administration to set a unified standard for the brightness and model of LED lights to facilitate subsequent use and maintenance.

Chen Tingfei also believes that when the Haiweiliao Bridge and the Benyuan Bridge were originally designed, some street lights still used traditional sodium lamps, which is very unreasonable. She will propose in the Legislative Yuan to require all public works to use LED lights uniformly, and it should not happen again. Because of the outdated design, it leads to a waste of public money.

The Municipal Public Works Bureau pointed out that there are nearly 240,000 street lamps in the city, which are being replaced by LED lamps year by year. At present, there are only about 100,000 sodium lamps and fluorescent lamps left, which will be replaced in the first quarter of next year.
