The advantages of automotive LED lighting

For a long time, the brake lamps, turn signal lamps, reversing lights and rear fog lamps are using 21W to 27W incandescent bulbs with lumens of 280-570 lm as the light source. Car tail lights, parking lights, side lights and turn signal flashing display are using 4W to 10W incandescent bulbs with lumens of 40-130 lm. The car headlights generally adopt xenon fluorescent tubes (HID) with high brightness. But in automotive lighting, more and more are using LED as a light source.

The advantages of automotive LED lighting

The average life expectancy of LED lights is longer than incandescent light and the brightness is higher than fluorescent tube. What’s more, LED lights are more stable and reliable, which can reduce the probability of failure and do not need to replace the bulb frequently, saving a lot of troubles. Also, LED can save more energy. LED lamp shape is smaller and easier to mount into the holder, thus taking up less space and match with stylish lighting design. More importantly, the startup speed of LED brake lights is faster, which takes only about 50ms to lit up, about 250 ms faster than the incandescent bulbs, thereby reducing the risk of collision trailing vehicles. In addition, LED is a solid state light source and can withstand greater shock.
