The Danish researchers found that LED blue light can cure infant jaundice

Danish researchers found that, turquoise and blue LED light therapy to slow the infant hyperbilirubinemia (Hyperbilirubinemia, commonly known as jaundice) equally effective, this discovery recently published in the "Nature" journal.

The Danish researchers found that LED blue light can cure infant jaundice

Aalborg University Hospital (Aalborg University Hospital) located in Aalborg, Denmark, the hospital's pediatric unit researchers Finn Ebbesen lead the research team, testing centers and emission wavelength of light blue LED 459 nm center emission wavelength of 497 nm turquoise shade, the two kinds of light irradiation with the same irradiance in infants suffering from jaundice.

Previous experiments using fluorescent test results show that the central emission wavelength of 490 nm turquoise shade more effective. The researchers found that for more than 33 weeks, compared with a slight jaundice babies randomly LED turquoise shade or LED blue light up to 24 hours, the results showed that both shade to reduce the efficiency of bilirubin little difference (p = 0.53).

A total of 46 experimental infants receiving turquoise colored light irradiation, while 45 infants receiving blue light, the results show the baby's bilirubin were reduced by approximately 35.3% (32.5,37.3) and 33.1% (27.1,36.8). Therefore, the results of researchers deduced that under the premise of using the LED light, turquoise and blue equally effective treatment for jaundice in babies.
