The General Administration of Customs released the export data of lamps and lighting devices in August
According to the data released by the General Administration of Customs on September 10, in the first eight months of this year, my country's total import and export value was 28.58 trillion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 6%. Among them, the total export value was 16.45 trillion yuan, an increase of 6.9%; the total import value was 12.13 trillion yuan, an increase of 4.7%; the trade surplus was 4.32 trillion yuan, an increase of 13.6%.
From the perspective of key export commodities nationwide, from January to August 2024, the export value of furniture and its parts was 319.1 billion yuan, an increase of 12.3% year-on-year; the export value of lamps, lighting devices and their parts was 196.7 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 2.6%.
From the perspective of August alone, the export of furniture and its parts continued to pick up, with an export value of 34.53 billion yuan, a month-on-month increase of 2.34% from the previous month; while the export of lamps, lighting devices and their parts continued the downward trend in July, with an export value of 25.24 billion yuan, a month-on-month decrease of 0.47% from the previous month.
Data show that in the first half of this year, my country's exports of lamps, lighting devices and their parts amounted to 146.48 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 6.6%. In the first seven months, my country's exports of lamps, lighting devices and their parts continued the previous growth trend, with exports of 171.56 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 4.3%.
However, since June, my country's monthly exports of lamps, lighting devices and their parts have fallen from the previous month. The monthly exports in June were 26.23 billion yuan, a month-on-month decrease of 1.4%; there was still a decline in July, with exports falling 3.3% month-on-month to 25.36 billion yuan. It is not difficult to find that compared with the strong recovery in the first half of the year, my country's current LED lighting industry still has export pressure, and the overall growth rate has slowed down.
According to industry insiders, "price factors" may be an important reason for the decline in total exports. Data show that in the first seven months of this year, the average export price of my country's lighting products showed an overall downward trend, and export profits were continuously squeezed. It is reported that in terms of exports, the overall added value of my country's lighting products is not high, and the strategy of foreign traders to win orders is still mainly based on low-price competition. At the same time, the lighting industry in ASEAN, India, Turkey and other places has continuously improved its lighting industry export capabilities by virtue of its advantages such as low labor costs and convenient transportation, increasing the overall supply of global lighting products, which in turn has caused the average export price of my country's lighting products to fluctuate in a downward range to a certain extent.
