The gorgeous lighting of the Temple of Poseidon in Sounion, Greece
On the evening of the 16th local time, the Temple of Poseidon in Sounion, a southern suburb of Athens, held a lighting ceremony for the new lighting system. Greek Prime Minister Mitsotakis and Minister of Culture Mendoni attended the event, and the famous Greek composer Stavros Xarchakos held a concert to add color to the ceremony.
The new lighting project is sponsored by Metlen Energy & Metal and is in charge of Emmy Award winner and internationally renowned lighting designer Eleftheria Deco. She is also the designer of the opening ceremony of the 2004 Athens Olympic Games and the lighting system of the Acropolis. The new lighting will replace the lighting equipment installed on the eve of the 2004 Athens Olympic Games.
The Greek Ministry of Culture and Sports said in a statement: "The new lighting of the Temple of Poseidon in Sounion highlights the archaeological and architectural significance of this ancient monument in a unique way, giving it a new dimension. At the same time, the design team paid special attention to ensure that the experience of daytime visitors is not disturbed, and all lighting devices have been carefully arranged so as not to hinder sight or affect the surrounding environment.
