The price of lighting LED rises in the second quarter

According to a report by the research institute TrendForce LED Global Supply Chain Database, the price of LED products for overall lighting will rise by 0.3-2.3% in the second quarter, mainly due to the full recovery of LED lighting market demand since the first quarter, and the second quarter will remain high-end coupled with the unresolved structural shortage of upstream LED chips due to the epidemic, terminal lighting factories have increased their stocking efforts. It is estimated that the rising trend of the supply chain will drive the annual output value of lighting LEDs to US$6.709 billion, an annual increase of 3.43%.

The price of lighting LED rises in the second quarter

TrendForce pointed out that benefiting from the rapid growth in demand for human lighting, smart lighting, plant lighting and special lighting (such as nuclear power plant lighting, pharmaceuticals, metal processing industry lighting), major lighting-level LED packaging manufacturers include Samsung LED, ams and Osram, CREE LED, Lumileds, Seoul Semiconductor, Mulinsen, Tiandian, etc. have all experienced substantial revenue growth since the first quarter, and growth momentum is expected to continue into the second quarter.

And this wave of LED package product categories, including indoor medium and low-power lighting LED products for home and commercial use, rose 0.3-2.3% in a single quarter, and outdoor high-power lighting LED products for outdoor and industrial use (1 watt Above), a single-season increase of 1.3-1.8%.

From the perspective of the supply chain, this wave of price increases was due to the impact of the epidemic last year, which led to the rise of chips and related metal raw materials, which put some lighting LED factories facing upstream price increases and increased their previous sales of low-priced lighting LED products to maintain profitability.

Overall, TrendForce pointed out that despite pressures such as rising prices of upstream raw materials, lighting LED manufacturers are still actively improving product performance, including luminous efficacy and color saturation, and successively launching related products that meet the new needs of the post-epidemic market to consolidate own market share and competitiveness, such as OSRAM and Lumileds launched lighting LED products for building atmosphere, and CREE LED products suitable for indoor planting and factories.
