A few days ago, the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development of the People's Republic of China organized the acceptance review of the Qingdao Jiaodong Airport Sponge Airport Demonstration Project, Green Lighting Demonstration Project, and Green Airport Project. 18 well-known industry experts from across the country agreed that the three demonstration projects have achieved the pre-determined goals and achieved good environmental, social and economic benefits, and agreed to pass the acceptance. Qingdao Jiaodong Airport contributes to the green development of the domestic civil aviation industry with valuable experience in pioneering trials.

In 2017, Qingdao Jiaodong Airport Sponge Airport Demonstration Project, Green Park Demonstration Project, Green Lighting Demonstration Project and Green Airport Project were approved by the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development, becoming the first batch of civil aviation demonstration projects approved by the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development. In the past four years, Qingdao Jiaodong Airport has continuously deepened the concept of "four-type airport" construction, innovatively implemented the development model of green airport and smart airport, and the construction of green airport led the industry. During the period, it was also listed as the "Thirteenth Five-Year" national key research and development plan "Key Technologies and Demonstration of Building Energy Conservation in Public Transport Hubs" by the Ministry of Science and Technology.
The Qingdao Jiaodong Airport Sponge Airport Demonstration Project puts forward the goal concept of building the first "sponge airport" in China, closely following the new idea of ??sponge city construction of "source emission reduction-process control-system governance", and systematically and comprehensively constructed rainwater harvesting according to local conditions Flood regulation and storage, water landscape, groundwater replenishment, biodiversity protection and other multi-functional ecological infrastructures have formed the construction of a storage and drainage balance system, combined use of rainwater reclaimed water, integrated artificial wetlands, ecological rainwater consumption of motorways in northern areas, Demonstration technologies such as the comprehensive utilization of rainwater in large-scale public buildings have built a sponge airport technology system, ecological collection and utilization of motor vehicle rainwater, and water recycling technologies, which have improved the effects of energy saving, emission reduction, consumption reduction and protection.
