Urumqi's Nightscape Dazzles with Lights to Welcome the Spring Festival
As the Spring Festival approaches, the city lights begin to twinkle. To create a festive and peaceful atmosphere and showcase the city's nighttime charm, Urumqi has adhered to the concept of "one scene per point, one theme per road, and citywide coordination," and under the theme of "Galloping Horses Celebrate the New Year," has created 18 distinctive landscapes along major roads and in commercial squares, comprehensively enhancing the city's nighttime lighting and making it dazzling and full of festive spirit.

At 8:00 PM on February 15th, a reporter observed at the Xidaqiao intersection that red lanterns along the roadside and the Year of the Horse-themed light show on buildings complemented each other, becoming a new landmark for citizens to enjoy the lights and experience the festive atmosphere.
"The light show was beautiful today, and the festive atmosphere was very strong," said Reshidai Yasin, a tourist from Aksu City.
"Because there were so many horse elements, and the bright red color scheme made us feel the strong festive spirit," said Yang Anqi, a local resident.
Around Guangming Road, Beijing Road, and more than 30 other key roads, the urban management department upgraded the lighting of the trees along the roads, arranging red lanterns, starry sky lights, meteor shower lights, and rattan ball lights in a staggered pattern, with color schemes designed according to the different functions of each road section, making every road dazzling with light.
Kong Na, head of the Urban Lighting Management Section of the Urumqi Municipal Urban Management Bureau (Administrative Law Enforcement Bureau), said, "We incorporated elements such as the Year of the Horse zodiac and auspicious meanings, combining traditional folk customs with modern lighting. Our aim is to allow citizens to feel the strong festive atmosphere as soon as they step outside. Different sections of the road have been designed differently, maintaining a unified festive atmosphere while retaining their own unique characteristics, ensuring that everyone's journey is scenic and vibrant."
Reporters learned that Urumqi implemented city-district coordination and social linkage, activating the festive lighting mode promptly at 7:30 PM every evening during the Spring Festival. Key areas such as the West Bridge and the Cultural Center featured illuminated buildings, primarily in Chinese red, incorporating elements such as traditional paper-cutting to convey New Year's blessings. More than 100 buildings were simultaneously illuminated, creating a dazzling festive night scene throughout the city.
