Lighting Upgrade and Renovation Project on Kaiyuan Road, Xiangtan Economic Development Zone, Hunan Province
Recently, the lighting energy consumption facility renovation and upgrading project for urban roads and public areas in the Xiangtan Economic Development Zone, led by the Lighting Management Office of the Xiangtan Municipal Urban Management and Law Enforcement Bureau, has achieved significant progress. As the pilot demonstration section of the project, the street light renovation and upgrading project on Kaiyuan Road (from Liancheng Avenue to Tanzhou Avenue) has recently been fully completed, and a demonstration road integrating high efficiency, energy saving, and intelligent management has officially been put into use.

Since its launch on November 28th, the construction unit has scientifically planned and efficiently promoted the project, focusing on the two major goals of "energy saving and intelligent management." This renovation not only completed the comprehensive upgrade of the lighting sources of 84 streetlights and 6 mid-pole lights in the section, replacing them all with high-efficiency LED lights, but also simultaneously installed individual lamp intelligent controllers for 90 newly installed lights.
The renovation has yielded significant results, achieving a leapfrog improvement in lighting quality. Calculations show that the average illuminance of the road section has significantly increased from approximately 10 lx to approximately 68 lx, and the uniformity has been optimized from approximately 0.25 to approximately 0.68, fundamentally improving the road lighting environment. The newly adopted LED lighting fixtures have significant advantages in terms of high brightness, low energy consumption, and long lifespan. The added individual lamp controllers give each streetlight a "smart brain," enabling intelligent functions such as remote switching, brightness adjustment, status monitoring, and automatic fault alarms. Management personnel can conduct real-time monitoring and precise scheduling through the intelligent lighting management platform, promoting a shift in streetlight operation and maintenance from traditional "manual inspection" to "intelligent control," effectively reducing operation and maintenance costs while improving management efficiency.
Kaiyuan Road, as an important traffic artery in the Xiangtan Economic Development Zone, has a dense concentration of businesses, communities, and commercial establishments along its route, resulting in high nighttime traffic demand. This renovation completely solved the problems of insufficient illuminance and aging facilities of the original streetlights, significantly improving the road's nighttime safety capabilities and enhancing the travel environment for citizens and the area's nighttime image.
