US consumers want to buy smart LED lights

An online survey of 1000 US adult consumers completed in April 2015 found that, intelligent  products are the most popular products in the field of home automation, about one-fifth of those surveyed said they would buy smart LED light bulbs over the next two years.

Mareca Hatler, ON World's research director, said: "With the increasing available products and the declined cost, the intelligent lighting has quickly become the most popular smart home applications, consumer interest in Smart LED bulb is greatly increased, which is benefit from smart home automation and control system supplier. "

The survey results also showed that 29% of people are willing to pay $ 20 or more to purchase the Smart Wireless LED bulbs.

By analyzing 257 intelligent lighting products and 20,000 consumer reviews, ON World found that, in 2012 and 2014, the acceptance for the intelligent LED bulb has increased by 30 times, and the positive comments are also increasing, which is the highest proportion among the intelligent lamp dimmer and the use of ZigBee, Z-Wave and Bluetooth. Due to growing demand for intelligent LED bulbs, , the  fastest growing using ZigBee products, is up to more than 238% in 2013, compared with 2014.

ZigBee smart lighting products, including Philips Hue and Lux, OSRAM Lightify product, GE's Link, Cree's Connected, Intelligent light bulbs from Belkin and LG, the Remote Control from Lutron and smart home centers from Quirky, SmartThings. Although ZigBee has the largest market share, but Bluetooth Smart bulbs grow faster, in addition, LIFX and Sengled also offers WiFi smart bulb.

Intelligent lighting products are increasingly being integrated with sensors and camera functions, which provide expanded networking applications and more connecting functions. For example, the latest intelligent LED bulbs products are integrated audio entertainment and camera security applications, such as facial recognition.

It is expected that global shipments of wireless smart lighting products will reach 400 million in 2019, of which, most of the products are for the intelligent LED bulbs.
