WalMart and GE install 1.5 million LED lamps in the world

Retail giant Wal-Mart recently announced that Wal-Mart and GE's Current partner retailer lighting program has expanded to more than 6,000 stores, parking lots, distribution centers and corporate offices in several countries. As part of its ongoing commitment to energy efficiency, Wal-Mart has saved more than $ 100 million in energy costs by installing more than 1.5 million LED luminaires worldwide.

Wal-Mart's energy efficiency milestone was announced at the National Retail Federation's Big Show in New York. The show is prestigious in the global retail industry.

Since 2010, Wal-Mart has reduced energy consumption by more than 12% per square foot. Its LED investment is part of Wal-Mart's science-based emission reduction program to achieve 18% reduction in carbon emissions by 2025 (from 2015) by improving energy efficiency, sourcing renewables and improving refrigeration technology.
