Samsung announces new packaging method for LEDs for lighting
"Yonhap News Agency" reported that South Korea's Samsung announced on the 27th that it has launched a new medium-power LED packaging method with improved light efficiency and color quality functions. Samsung hopes to use this technology to improve the LED market position for lighting.
The report quoted Samsung as saying that the LED packaging method called LM301B EVO uses a new reflective material through the packaging mold to provide the industry's highest LED efficiency of 235 lumens watts. Samsung has also managed to fine-tune the red spectrum of the LED phosphor blend to provide higher color quality.
Under the new packaging technology, the LED color temperature ranges from 2,700K to 6,500K. One of the new package products is indoor lighting suitable for offices and schools, and the other is suitable for high ceiling lighting applications in factories and warehouses.
Samsung said the LM301B EVO's LED packaging will allow luminaire manufacturers to manufacture Class A certified products that meet the EU standards for energy-related products, as well as the V5.1 advanced requirements of the non-profit lighting group Design Lights Consortium (DLC). According to market research and research agency TrendForce, the revenue of the global LED lighting market is expected to reach US$6.7 billion in 2021, an increase of 3.43% over 2020. Samsung hopes to improve its market position and inject revenue momentum through new packaging methods.
