Changshun County in Qiannan Prefecture, Guizhou, Advances Comprehensive Public Lighting Upgrades
A single streetlight illuminates the night; a single project warms the hearts of a city's residents. In recent days, across the main and secondary roads of Changshun County's urban area and Weiyuan Community in the Qiannan Buyei and Miao Autonomous Prefecture, Guizhou Province, construction workers have been busy removing old lights, laying cables, and installing new fixtures. As brand-new LED streetlights light up one after another, the county's public lighting upgrade project is steadily advancing-not only brightening the night sky but also illuminating the safe and happy paths of its residents.

"In the past, when I went out at night, some sections of the road were so dim that I had to walk carefully. Now that the streetlights are much brighter, I feel completely at ease going for evening walks or shopping," said Yang Zhongli, a local resident, reflecting on the changes. The replacement of each streetlight has not only improved the nighttime travel environment but also eliminated safety hazards on sidewalks and in parks, giving residents a greater sense of security and well-being when venturing out after dark.
It is understood that this upgrade is not merely a simple "replace old with new" effort-it is also a "smart upgrade" of the city's lighting system. The project simultaneously advances the construction of an urban intelligent management system. A single-light controller is being installed on each main light pole along the main and secondary roads, accompanied by a large visual display screen for smart city management, creating a "one-button control" system for the county's streetlights. Through real-time monitoring and remote regulation, the system transforms lighting facility management from "manual inspection" to "intelligent control," making streetlight management more precise and efficient.
Yang Moyao, project manager for the energy management contract for public lighting in Changshun's urban area, stated: "This energy management contract project for urban public lighting, with a total investment of 4.93 million yuan, is a major initiative by Changshun County to address public needs and enhance urban quality. A total of 7,616 sets of high-efficiency, energy-saving LED light sources will be replaced, and we expect to achieve full coverage of high-efficiency, energy-saving LED streetlights in the urban area by June of this year."
To ensure the long-term, stable operation of the lighting facilities, a dedicated four-person operations and maintenance team has been established for the later phase of the project. This team is responsible for the daily inspection, repair, and maintenance of all types of lighting facilities across the county, including high-voltage and low-voltage equipment, box-type substations, control cabinets, underground cables, and light poles. Their goal is to ensure a lighting rate of 99% on main and secondary roads and 96% on back alleys, while maintaining a 100% facility integrity rate, safeguarding the city's illumination through meticulous operations and maintenance.
