The nighttime lighting on Renmin South Road in Nanqiao Town, Fengxian District, Shanghai, has been upgraded again
In September 2024, Renmin South Road (from Nanfeng Highway to Yuxiu Road) in Fengxian District, Shanghai, made its debut. With its ever-changing treetop lights, starry night sky, seasonal lighting, and unique street lighting installations, this long-standing street has become a popular spot for evening strolls and photo opportunities.

Now, the extended section of Renmin South Road (from Yuxiu Road to Huancheng South Road) has also been upgraded, seamlessly connecting the north and south sides of the street, creating a complete and stunning nighttime view.
As night falls, all the lights on the extended section of Renmin South Road (from Yuxiu Road to Huancheng South Road) illuminate, creating a continuous, starry nightscape that enhances the overall atmosphere. Many citizens come specifically to stroll and take photos.
"The whole road is lit up! Now, walking from one end to the other is filled with beautiful lights, doubling the walking experience!" Aunt Wang, a resident living nearby, still takes her evening walks along Renmin Road with her friends, beaming with joy at the newly renovated southern section. She said that before, the northern section was brightly lit, creating a sense of separation between north and south. Now, with the entire road illuminated, the old street finally feels complete!
The newly renovated extension of Renmin South Road stretches 300 meters from Yuxiu Road in the north to Huancheng South Road in the south. Combined with the previously renovated northern section, the total length of Renmin South Road is 680 meters. The road passes by the North Campus of Yuxiu Primary School, several residential communities, government service points, and shops along the street, closely connecting residents with their daily lives.
The renovation continues the same lighting design as the northern section, extending the familiar and romantic night view southward. The entire road is now equipped with LED digitally controlled color-changing lights and digitally controlled starry sky projection lights, creating a flowing light and shadow effect and a sky full of starlight covering the treetops, offering a different view at every turn, perfectly synchronized with the northern section.
Meanwhile, at the intersection of Renmin South Road and Huancheng South Road, a new "Joyful South Bridge" light art installation has been added, serving as a brand-new nighttime landmark at the southern end of the street, providing lighting highlights at both ends of the road.
Beyond the upgraded nighttime scenery, the streetscape has also gained a touch of human warmth. Eight new sets of art benches have been added along the route, incorporating elements of the four seasons of South Bridge and local cultural elements, with exquisite and unique designs. "Now there's a place to rest when the kids get out of school or when we're tired from our evening walks, it's so thoughtful!" exclaimed a resident who lives nearby and picks up their children every day. These scattered benches, brimming with urban warmth, provide a comfortable place for parents picking up their children from school, tired citizens taking walks, and delivery riders taking a break.
