Problems that need to be avoided when purchasing LED lamps

With the continuous innovation of LED technology, LED lighting products have been widely used in lighting fields such as home, office, and public facilities construction. Now LED lights have propped up half of the lighting industry. Under the trend of replacement of LED lights, the replacement of traditional light tubes with LED tubes has gradually become a trend. So, what is the current LED lamp market situation? What is its optoelectronic performance? Is the safety performance up to standard?

Problems that need to be avoided when purchasing LED lamps

We have specially planned the in-depth evaluation of the LED T8 1.2m tube in this issue. We have purchased a total of five LED T8 1.2m tubes from Philips, 3 well-known domestic lighting brands, and a non-brand manufacturer from the lighting market, and invited a third-party testing agency. –Shenzhen Nanfang Lixun Testing Co., Ltd. reveals the real performance of LED lamps currently on the market from the aspects of optoelectronic performance and safety and provides a reference for consumers to buy LED lamps.

We all know that one of the most intuitive parameters that reflect the energy-saving and high-efficiency characteristics of LED lighting products is luminous efficiency. The calculation formula is the ratio of total luminous flux to total power, and the unit is lumens/watt (lm/w). Generally speaking, the higher the luminous efficiency, the stronger the ability of the lighting fixture to convert electrical energy into light energy, that is, the stronger the energy saving of the lighting fixture under the condition of providing the same brightness; under the same power, the lighting of the lighting fixture The stronger the sex, the greater the brightness.

Through the comparison of various parameters, consumers can be more targeted when purchasing LED T8 lamps. First of all, due to the risk of electric shock, brand B, brand C, and brand D products should be excluded first when purchasing. In addition, among the remaining two LED T8 lamp products, Philips has more advantages in light efficiency, which also means that the product has higher lighting efficiency and more energy saving. It should be noted that although brand A products have more advantages in terms of price, they do not meet IEC standards in terms of safety, so consumers also need to be cautious in purchasing.

At present, the world is still in the stage of LED lamps replacing traditional lamps, and China has become the most important manufacturing base for LED lamps. While the industry is prosperous and developed, the safety of LED lamps has not attracted widespread attention. Due to the internal electrical connection between the two ends of the pins of some double-ended LED lamps, when one end of the double-ended LED lamp is inserted into a live lamp socket, the other floating end will be charged. In practical application, since the installation user often cannot tell whether the light switch has cut off the power supply when one end of the double-ended LED light is inserted, the charged pin at the other end may cause an electric shock to the installer, which will cause electric shock injury and additional injury of human fall.

In the authoritative International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) standard IEC 62776, this safety requirement is called: Pin-safety during insertion (the safety of the lamp pin during insertion). In the IEC62776 standard, there are clear specifications and requirements for the safety of the lamp pin when the double-ended LED lamp is inserted into the lamp. Because the formulation of relevant safety standards in our country lags behind that of IEC, my country has not yet issued a national standard for the safety of LED lamps, and there is no way to regulate the safety of the pins of LED lamps when they are inserted.

In addition, it is not difficult to find through comparison that domestic brands have more or less hidden dangers in terms of safety, mainly due to the lack of relevant domestic safety standards and the lack of consumers’ knowledge of LED lighting safety. We also hope that the country can issue relevant safety standards as soon as possible to standardize products on the market and avoid potential safety hazards because the safety of consumers’ lives and property is priceless!
