High-power LED package prices continue to decline in October
In October 2018, the price of high-power packaging products in the Chinese market dropped significantly.
LED inside analyst Wang Ting said that in response to the third-quarter chip price cuts, the price of high-power products continued to fall in October, but the decline was mixed, while the price of medium-power products remained stable for the time being. Among them, the price of high-power ceramic substrate products continued to fall, ranging from 2-5%; the price of 5-10W 7070 products also decreased, with a range of about 4%.
In the case that the general lighting market is becoming more mature and the demand is slowing down, it is the development focus of the manufacturer to improve the added value of products, improve the reliability, color and light efficiency of the products. For example, Lumileds introduced the new LUXEON V2 LED, which achieves a luminous efficiency of 150 lm/W with a current of 1 A, which enables DLC Premium requirements at the system level and is designed to deliver 99% of the light forward.
Global bulb prices have fallen slightly, and people in Europe are sought after for lighting products
In terms of bulbs, the average retail price of LED bulbs replacing 40W incandescent lamps in October fell slightly by 0.3% to US$6.2; the average retail price of LED bulbs replacing 60W incandescent lamps fell by 0.5% to US$7.3.
From the perspective of major regions in the world, the European region's filament lamp products are still favored by consumers, and the market competition is fierce. Major brand manufacturers such as Sylvnia, V-Tac and Müller Licht continue to significantly reduce product prices. In addition, international manufacturers such as OSRAM and Signify launched a number of new low-cost filament lamps in October, which also led to a decline in the retail price of LED bulbs in Europe.
The retail price of LED bulbs replacing 40W and 60W incandescent lamps in October fell by 0.7% and 0.8% respectively in the UK and by 1.5% and 0.9% in Germany respectively. In other regional markets, the average price of LED bulbs replacing 40W and 60W incandescent lamps was slightly reduced, with a drop of 0.5-1%.
It is worth noting that the European Centric Lighting and smart lighting products are sought after by the market. Based on the original products, brand manufacturers redefine lighting products and add various functions, such as scene settings or ambient light sensing, to make products more humane. In October, some manufacturers introduced several smart dimming atmosphere lights, and the retail price was generally higher than the average market price.
