"Love Street Lights" Illuminate Leshan, Sichuan

On May 19, a heartwarming transformation took place in Yuhuangding Village, Zhoupo Town, Jingyan County, Leshan City, Sichuan Province-65 new street lights brightened the 1.7-kilometer village road, lighting the way home for residents. This community-driven project was made possible through the generous donation and installation efforts of a compassionate local benefactor.

Bringing Light to a Remote Village

Yuhuangding Village, nestled in the hills, is one of the more geographically isolated areas in Zhoupo Town. With most working-age villagers employed elsewhere, the community primarily consists of elderly residents. For years, the unlit roads posed significant challenges after dark, making nighttime travel difficult and unsafe. Installing streetlights had long been a pressing wish for the villagers.

On May 9, a local resident reached out to the Leshan 12345 Heart-to-Heart Service Hotline, calling for assistance to address the village’s nighttime mobility issues.

A Swift and Caring Response

To enhance nighttime safety, improve living standards, and beautify the rural environment, the Zhoupo Town Party Committee and Government acted promptly. After conducting field surveys, they connected with a successful entrepreneur from the village-with support from Jingyan County authorities-who self-funded the donation of 65 solar streetlights and 10 security cameras, along with their installation.

Thanks to the dedicated efforts of construction crews working overtime, all lights and security equipment are now fully operational, benefiting over 200 residents of Yuhuangding Village.

This initiative not only addresses a critical need but also exemplifies the power of community solidarity and public-private collaboration in rural development. The newly illuminated roads symbolize hope and safety for the villagers, proving that even small acts of kindness can make a profound difference.
