Nanjing Pukou Plant Factory uses LED lights to efficiently grow crops

Shuangmiao Village, Qiaolin Street, Pukou District, Nanjing, Jiangsu Province is an important vegetable producing area in the Yangtze River Delta region. In the plant factory covering an area of ?4,488 square meters, only 5 people are required to complete the long-term production work throughout the year.

In the nursery room of the plant factory, tomato seedlings "live" neatly inside, and smart LED lights are installed on the top of each shelf. It becomes the "little sun" for plant growth.

Plant growth is inseparable from water and fertilizer. The plant factory uses hydroponics, and each vegetable "lives" in a small piece of degradable rock wool filled with nutrient solution. The 2-month growth cycle of field planting only takes more than 20 days here. In addition to the characteristics of high planting density, the yield of the same area is more than 50 times higher than that of field planting.

The staff told reporters that 120 tons of vegetables are now shipped to surrounding areas every year. At present, my country has become the largest country in the world of facility agriculture, with an area of more than 42.7 million mu of facility agriculture, of which facility vegetables account for 81%. While ensuring the supply of "vegetable baskets" for urban and rural residents, it has also become an important factor for farmers to get rich and industrial revitalization.
