New spectral lighting technology surpasses halogen LED lighting efficiency

It is reported that Luminus Devices, headquartered in Sunnyvale, California, has announced that it has launched its third proprietary spectral technology, PerfectWhite?, which almost completely reproduces the visual characteristics of halogen lamps (3000K). Halogen lamps are considered by many in the lighting industry to be the gold standard for light quality in artificial lamps.

New spectral lighting technology surpasses halogen LED lighting efficiency

The company claims that its PerfectWhite spectral technology not only reproduces the output power of halogen lamps, but further improves them. The new technology fills the blue-green lighting gap, with PerfectWhite's color point just below the blackbody curve, Luminus said. Therefore, PerfectWhite does not have the green/yellow tint common to halogen lamps, nor does it contain UV radiation.

"The spectral properties of halogen lamps make them very attractive, especially in hospitality and museum lighting applications," said Tom Jory, vice president of lighting at Luminus. "Unlike other full-spectrum LEDs that emit harmful near-ultraviolet radiation, PerfectWhite works by filling in the traditional LED technology. The blue-green void that exists in the light provides the visual effect of a halogen lamp." PerfectWhite spectral technology enhances Luminus' unique combination of LED spectra, including AccuWhite? and Sensus? spectral technologies, which can be applied to virtually any of the company's COB LED products.

The company designed the spectral AccuWhite to maximize CRI performance, with a guaranteed minimum CRI of 95 and a typical CRI of 98. Notably, lighting designers and visual display managers alike are seeking the highest CRI and TM-30-15 ratings for interior lighting applications. AccuWhite LEDs have Rf (fidelity) values ??up to 95 and Rg (color gamut) values ??up to 100 in the TM-30-15 standard, while achieving efficiencies of up to 125 lm/W at a case temperature of 85°C.

On the other hand, Sensus? Spectral Technology addresses the need for retail stores to stimulate consumer purchases by producing a whiter light environment, richer and more vibrant saturated colors such as blues and reds. Sensus' 3000K and 3500K Engineering Spectra deliver a gamut area index of up to 120 (GAI BB15) and chromaticity below the blackbody curve, allowing the perception of pure, bright whites as well as deeper colors and increased contrast. Luminus claims that while other LEDs may also produce pure white lighting, Luminus' Sensus achieves pure white lighting without sacrificing efficacy, achieving 148 lumens per watt (LPW) of efficacy at temperatures as high as 85°C.
