Nightscape Lighting Project of CBD Area, Suzhou Industrial Park, Jiangsu

Recently, the upgrading project of floodlighting systems for Hong Leong City Center, Lake Left Bank and Customs Building in the CBD of Suzhou Industrial Park, Jiangsu Province has been fully completed. The project is developed by the Park Administrative Law Enforcement Bureau and implemented by China-Singapore Group. It greatly improves the urban nightscape quality and fuels the development of a new core urban hub in Suzhou.

Centered on the core concept of "Precise Lighting Empowerment & Architectural Contour Reshaping", the project refashions the light and shadow effect of Hong Leong City Center complex. Horizontal linear lights and dotted lights are newly installed on high-rises to interweave with each other, highlighting their vertical towering texture. The facades of low-rise buildings adopt soft lighting to maintain a tranquil vibe, creating a well-layered light-and-shade rhythm and showcasing the unique structural aesthetics of the buildings.

Adhering to the philosophy of "Warm Living Environment & Humanistic Care", the lighting design endows the residential complex with a gentle atmosphere. Low-luminance and anti-glare floodlights are deployed to softly outline the lines of building tops and facades. The lighting avoids dazzling residents while presenting clear, warm architectural silhouettes after dark.

Guided by the principle of "Solemn Elegance & Integrated Urban Landscape", the lighting layout focuses on building facades and the clock tower on the rooftop. Adjustable-angle floodlights evenly wash the stone walls, while narrow-beam spotlights deliver precise illumination for the clock tower. The lighting scheme embodies the open and inclusive international temperament of the industrial park, and adds a warm yet solemn backdrop to the 32nd APEC Trade Ministers’ Meeting.

The renovation of building nightscape lighting is a key initiative to advance urban renewal and elevate urban landscape. The construction faced multiple challenges including high-altitude operations, stringent safety control and tight construction schedule. Through thorough pre-site surveys, reversed construction scheduling and strict control over construction quality and safety, the project team finished all works on schedule, further illuminating the beauty of Suzhou Industrial Park.
