Smart Pole in Huaibin County, Xinyang, Henan Province
Recently, the Urban Management Bureau of Huaibin County, Xinyang City, Henan Province, successfully completed the intelligent transformation of 32 traffic light intersections. Twelve multifunctional smart integrated poles were installed at demonstration intersections along major arterial roads, including Huaihe Avenue, marking a new stage in the intensive management of urban public infrastructure.

The smart integrated poles employed in this project achieve "multiple poles in one" through three major innovations: They integrate interfaces for eight types of equipment, including lighting, monitoring, and communications. A single pole can replace three to four traditional poles, reducing the number of poles on the demonstration road by 37% and freeing up approximately 400 square meters of road space. Their modular design allows each functional unit to operate independently without interfering with each other, improving equipment efficiency by 40%. Certified for wind and earthquake resistance, they offer a load capacity 2.3 times that of traditional signal poles.
The introduction of these new smart poles has significantly improved the city's appearance and tidiness, and has revolutionized operations and maintenance. Through a unified interface, maintenance personnel can efficiently conduct equipment inspections, reducing repair response time to under 30 minutes and reducing overall maintenance costs by 55%. All poles are equipped with expansion interfaces such as 5G base stations, laying a solid foundation for the future development of smart cities.
This "one-pole integration" technology effectively solves the problem of multiple poles standing side by side in cities, resulting in scattered spaces and a cluttered streetscape, and to a certain extent, expands urban public space.
