Solar-Powered LED Streetlights Installed in Longyan, Fujian

To further deepen Party building and promote a shared governance model at the grassroots level, Dongxin Community in Dongcheng Subdistrict, Xinluo District, Longyan City, Fujian Province, recently focused on residents' concerns and, in conjunction with its partner, the Longyan Municipal Public Security Bureau, installed a batch of new solar-powered streetlights in poorly lit areas such as secondary roads and back streets. These "small streetlights" support "major public welfare," using green and energy-saving technology to contribute to safe community building and effectively improve community governance efficiency and residents' quality of life.

Previously, the community's existing traditional streetlights suffered from aging wiring, damaged fixtures, and uneven lighting due to their age. Some areas were dimly lit at night, affecting residents' safety. At the same time, traditional streetlights consumed a lot of energy, leading to increasing electricity and maintenance costs, putting pressure on community governance. In response, Dongxin Community collected opinions and suggestions through "resident night talks" and proactively sought support from its partner, the Longyan Municipal Public Security Bureau, to jointly plan and implement a lighting facility upgrade project.

The community Party committee led a field survey to identify weak lighting locations. Based on the road layout and pedestrian flow characteristics, a scientific installation plan was developed, ultimately selecting 17 locations to install smart solar streetlights. These streetlights utilize photovoltaic energy storage technology, boasting significant advantages such as "daytime energy storage, nighttime self-illumination, intelligent light sensing, and zero-power operation," achieving energy saving, peace of mind, high efficiency, and long-term operation. Now, all 17 solar streetlights are in use, not only reducing community public electricity consumption at the source and significantly lowering community public governance and maintenance costs, saving public funds, but also actively practicing the development concepts of energy conservation, emission reduction, and green low-carbon development.

A streetlight warms the heart, a glimmer of light protects safety. In this streetlight upgrade project, Dongxin Community adhered to the core principle of Party building leadership, fully leveraging the resource advantages of co-construction units, focusing on the small matters of the masses and addressing practical issues related to people's livelihoods, accurately responding to the real needs of the people, and implementing convenient services in every detail, truly touching the hearts of the people. The brand-new, bright solar streetlights not only illuminated the residents' way home, but also warmed their hearts, vividly demonstrating the warmth of grassroots governance through police-community collaboration and joint efforts for the people.
