Street Lamp Quality Upgrade & Renovation in Xinxiang, Henan

To ensure stable operation of urban road lighting at night, eliminate potential safety hazards of lighting facilities and guarantee residents’ safe travel after dark, in accordance with the arrangements for refined urban management, the Housing, Urban-Rural Construction and Administration Bureau of Xinxiang County, Xinxiang City, Henan Province, commissioned street lamp maintenance companies to launch a special street lamp renovation campaign in May to comprehensively improve nighttime travel support capacity of the city.

Taking urban road layout, service life of street lamps and frequently malfunctioning locations into consideration, the bureau arranged maintenance staff to draw up a detailed inspection plan. Following the inspection principle of "prioritizing key areas over ordinary sections and hidden dangers over routine issues", they carried out full-coverage grid inspections on a total of 3,233 street lamps covering 23 urban roads, leaving no blind spots or undiscovered risks.

For all types of street lamp faults identified during inspections, maintenance teams strictly abided by safe production operating procedures, avoided rush hours reasonably and took full safety protection measures throughout the work. This ensured safe, efficient and orderly maintenance while minimizing disruptions to public travel.

This special renovation delivered remarkable results. A total of 196 person-times of maintenance workers and over 100 trips of special operation vehicles were deployed. Maintenance and upkeep work was fully completed on street lamps along 11 roads, including timely troubleshooting of 20 cable faults, replacement of 3,650 meters of cables and 102 sets of various light fixtures, as well as restoration of 180 decorative street lamps. The campaign effectively fixed problems such as broken lamps and insufficient illumination, completely removed nighttime road safety risks and greatly upgraded the quality of urban nighttime lighting.

This special maintenance project not only greatly improved the urban nighttime lighting environment, but also laid a solid foundation for refined urban management. Taking this campaign as an opportunity, the bureau will optimize regular and institutionalized mechanisms for street lamp inspection and maintenance, continuously strengthen daily patrols, hazard screening and emergency response capabilities, and raise the professional standard of street lamp operation and maintenance. With a bright, safe and stable urban lighting environment, the bureau will boost continuous urban quality improvement and fully secure residents’ safe and convenient travel at night.
